The Outlaw | work in progress
Articulated 6" action figure
INTRO
An old character drawing
The outlaw is a cowboy-outsider type of character I developed years ago. I wanted to translate the character into a 6" articulated action figure. The figure will be made entirely of injection molded plastic, and flocking will be applied to the legs to emulate cow-hide pants.
The neck, shoulders, and legs will have ball-joint articulation, while the knees and elbows will have sliding plates to 90 degrees.

3D DEVELOPMENT
Adapting the drawing to 3D using ZBrush

When sculpting, it was important to keep the body in parts as joints were to be added between them down the line.

Adding joint articulation
After a base model was created, it is time to introduce exact measurements and joint articulation. Sliding plate and ball articulation will be the focus. The illustration below drafts the placement of these joints within their respective limbs.
